Final Submission

Throughout this long process of building my physical therapy magazine, I have changed and modified quite a bit of times. My magazine is unconventional in itself because physical therapy magazines are not common, but I have realized that there are many conventions in other magazines that I have found to be very useful in mine. The more I researched, the more I got new ideas for ways to make it look more professional and conventional, to an extent. I think the final product of my magazine looks very conventional as far as the magazines I have researched. I changed the cover page to have all the words on one side. I also emphasized a color theme of maroon, beige, black, white and grey. I revised the table of contents page by making it more organized with the bigger numbers and the line in the middle. I liked this idea and thought it looked neat. I changed the look of my title in the article and the font to clean it up a bit. I also added lines in between the paragraphs to have them more organized so it is more pleasing to the eye.

CCR Question #4 Draft

The camera that I used for my photos and photo shoots was a Nikon D3200 this is my personal camera. It was in action mode for the cover photo. For the other photos I used portrait mode and automatic. I used Photoshop to edit many of my photos. i edited these photos to make them look cleaner and more vibrant. i also changed some colors so the color scheme would continue, creating a theme throughout my magazine. creating a theme also helps readers identify PT Body Works as a brand. though i started with Publisher in the beginning of my project, half way through i had changed to InDesign as a more professional way to put together the final product and clean it up. i used InDesign the most as the main way of putting together my magazine. to document the whole process of building my magazine, i used blogger. from the research to the final product, each new step was written down and posted. to look up different fonts and do research, i used google chrome.

CCR Question #3 Draft

My production skills have improved by changing the type of program i use to build my magazine, and by learning more about the production and media industry. as i learned which different camera angles and shots were best for my project, i took them accordingly. also seeing what shots and angles were conventional in other magazines helped me decide which photos were best to use. i used a variety of models to appeal to my audience better. I started off my project by using publisher to create my templates for my magazine. i also created my first and second drafts in publisher. I then moved to the program InDesign. this is a more professional program to use and i was able to be more detailed with my work. Moving and evolving from Microsoft Publisher to Adobe InDesign was a big step because i had to learn how to use a completely new program. i had to rebuild my whole magazine through InDesign which was a challenge, but the final product looks more aesthetically pleasing and cleaner. overall it looks more professional and like a real magazine you would see at a store, or in my case, a doctors office or a gym.

The photos i took were of the process of physical therapy and what you need to go through to get your final outcome of "feeling great". the meaning i was trying to create was that pt can be for anyone and its not only to get you back from an injury but can also enhance your performance. for my cover page, i used a wide shot of a young man running on a treadmill with a happy expression to show that injuries or conditions can be treated and will not last forever. this magazines purpose is to show that. i used my color scheme of maroon white, black, and beige to show that pt is not just medical, it is an active and stimulating environment that invites transition from an injury to your average fitness routine. in my photo shoots, i tried to capture that communication and understanding of the issue leads to a successful recovery. the location for my photo shoots was in a physical therapy office and a gym. the social groups represented are people of all ages who are physically active. this shows that anyone can benefit from physical therapy and anyone can learn about it.

CCR Question #2 Draft

The magazines i have researched engage their audience by having social media accounts on platforms like Instagram and Twitter, and by advertising on billboards. social media is more accessible now and it is the modern way of doing everything, including promoting magazines. the magazine "HEALTH" has a verified Instagram account promoting products from their magazine and with the link to some of their articles in their bio. i thought this was effective because there are many social media users within my target audience. it can also be shared easily by people being able to send posts. my marketing plan is throughout social media. out of all the marketing strategies, i think this one is best for me due to the significant use of social media and how big the active/ medical community is on these different types of platforms. the traditional distribution models for my product are direct selling, selling through intermediaries, dual distribution, and reverse channels. i also did some research on the magazine OnFitness. i found out that they digitally distribute through amazon. amazon is a digital distribution agent. i found this to be very effective because you can purchase magazines through a Kindle Fire which is like a tablet used for reading made by amazon. you can also just purchase a pdf of the issue. i will distribute my magazine by putting it in doctors offices, medical centers, and gyms because these places are where my target audience will most likely be. this form of distribution is called selling through intermediaries which is a traditional distribution method. my digital distribution option is to sell through distribution agents like Amazon because my magazine will be circulated more on a more popular site and could be recognized more if it is similar to other magazines and put under the same categories.

3rd Quarter Submission

Overall, the main revisions I made since my mid-term submission for the cover were the title change, the font and the size of the text and the slight color change. For the table of contents I changed the color, the font, the text size and the picture placement. I also added a page number to the bottom of the page. For my two article pages ,I changed the font, text size, the picture placement and quantity, and added page numbers. I did all these revisions in InDesign. I made these revisions to make my magazine come together and make it look more professional which will help me get the attention of my target audience.
